5th Annual Saving tiny Hearts Gala
The Fifth Annual Saving tiny Hearts Gala was held on July 24, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. This year's Gala was our most successful yet in terms of both attendance and fundraising. The 300+ guests helped to raise in excess of $80,000 for the evening through donations, silent auction and live auction. The Emcee for the evening was award winning musician, producer, writer, and speaker Paul Cardall.

The evening featured keynote speakers the Illinois Secretary of State Jessie White and Cardinals pitcher Trever Miller. In addition, Dr. Sunjay Kaushal gave an update on his project titled 3-D Cardiac Tissue Engineering: Using Decellularized Scaffolds For Engineering Whole Heart. which is one of the projects being funded by the Saving tiny Hearts Society.

Deerfield (IL) High School was honored as the recipient of the “tiny Heart Hero Award.” During the first three weeks in December 2009, DHS raised $87,000 for Saving tiny Hearts during DHS' annual School Chest.

The live auction was led by the mayor of Geneva Illinois Kevin Burns. Wrapping up the evenings festivities was Elizabeth Kordeluk, a young adult living with a congenital heart defect, and her band the Magnetars.

The Annual Gala is our primary fundraising effort each year and allows us to fund crucial, life-saving research of congenital heart defects (CHD), America’s #1 birth defect. This miraculous research can transcend all fields of medicine yet requires additional funding; we are committed to further funding his project and many more additional grass roots research projects in the future.
